Protect Your Skin While Wearing a Mask

Skin Care Under Your Mask

As businesses reopen and employees return to the workplace, many of us are finding ourselves wearing face masks more often and for longer periods of time. With stay-at-home orders lifted, wearing a facial mask has been deemed more important now than ever as we work to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

As of July 13, 2020, Governor Whitmer’s executive order actually requires that individuals wear a mask or facial covering while in an indoor public space or in crowded outdoor spaces.

With the blazing summer heat and increased moisture, wearing a mask for extended periods of time can have negative consequences for your skin if not cared for properly. This is what causes what has recently been coined as “Maskne.”

Dr. Craig Kraffert explained that “Wearing a mask can cause acne as the mask traps dirt and oil in the pores.” Stress and friction from the mask only exacerbate the problem.

One way to combat “Maskne” is by using a clearing serum designed to regulate oil production and proactively address conditions that lead to such breakouts. For an effective cleansing oil, we recommend Eve Taylor’s Clearing Aromatic Treatment Serum – a blend of natural essential oils and plant oils perfect for re-balancing the skin.
